Sunglasses

Your eyes are important. Sunglasses are their insurance policy. Cheap convenience store sunglasses are made from extremely inexpensive materials, and the lack of clarity and visibility can actually hurt your eyes in the long-term. Especially after the cheap plastic lenses become scratched and dirty.

Glare is nearly always present. The blinding light that is glare, becomes intensified when reflected off of snow, water, building, homes (especially when painted white), highways and automobiles. Glare is a nuisance at best and can be dangerous when driving. It's easy to miss something or someone in front of your car while driving into a glare situation. Your eyes strain under these conditions. Quality sunglasses reduce this glare and allow your eyes to remain more comfortable.

Top quality sunglasses will allow your eyes to remain comfortable through the day to day hazards that we all encounter with regularity. Some of these day to day hazards can actually lead to the threat of permanent damage that can lead to eye disease or cataracts. Good, top quality sunglasses are what you need to provide comfort, protection and rest for your eyes, even during lengthy exposure to harsh glare.

Glare isn't only a problem when the snow is on the ground. Your eyes need glare protection at all times, all year round. Damaging UV rays are present in all daylight hours, year-round.

To provide full, day-long, comfort, sunglasses should eliminate all problems of glare and reduce the amount of visible light to a comfortable, visibly efficient level. The lenses should also reduce infrared rays and nearly eliminate UV light.

When you pick out your sunglasses, consider how you will be using them. Most people do not need lenses rated less than 10%. While driving, for example, lenses that are too dark can cause visibility problems when driving from very bright conditions into shady-dark areas; driving into a tunnel could cause complete loss of vision. Some people can become "addicted" to dark lenses and find they cannot tolerate even moderate glare without dark glasses.

Simply stated, Optical Quality means the lens is free from distortion. Lines reflected in the lens will follow in straight lines the even contours of the lens, versus wavy, eye-straining distortions found in non-optical lenses.

Sunglass lenses today are made of optical glass, polycarbonate, polarized lenses and photochromic or photochromatic. All these types of sunglass lenses serve different purposes and enable you to get exactly the right sunglasses for your needs.

  • Thanks again for getting my Lactate kit to me before our testing event. I tried another store but they didn't have the kit and strips in stock - but you did. It's comforting to know that you have a lot of inventory at your physical store...this is different from most online stores that I've bought from in the past.

    Janet - Coronado, CA
