The iconic running shoe is back for its 21st edition. Asics recently launched the Gel-Nimbus 21, aimed to make long-distance runs comfortable for athletes. The Gel-Nimbus series has been synonymous with supreme comfort in the running community for decades and the latest Asics Nimbus drop is set to feature an improved fit, maximum shock absorption and added cushioning.

Clever Training looked at some of the new features in the newest version of the popular Gel-Nimbus series.

What’s New in the Asics Nimbus Drop?

The Gel-Nimbus 21 is ultimate long-distance running shoes as they bring comfort wherever you’re training. One of the new features running enthusiasts can look forward to in the new Asics Nimbus drop is the improved fit on the Gel-Nimbus 21. Asics said they improved the fit of the 21st edition and the shoes’ mesh upper is designed to adapt to the movement of your foot for a more comfortable ride.

Another upgrade you’ll notice in the Gel-Nimbus 21 is the maximum shock absorption feature. Asics’ GEL technology gives superior shock absorption on your feet for a more comfortable run. In addition to the GEL technology, the FlyteFoam Propel technology gives a high-energy return to give runners a bouncy feel, making it easier to survive those long-distance runs and tough workouts. The shoes also feature an external clutch counter to give you heel the ultimate support and a molded EVA sockliner that keeps your feet comfortable and dry as you conquer the terrain.

Who’s It Best For?

The Gel-Nimbus 21 is neutral cushioned, so it is recommended for runners who have a higher, more stable arch that does not pronate excessively, or roll inwards or outwards. These shoes offer little to no structure or pronation support and are generally more flexible than stability shoes. Given the material, the Gel-Nimbus 21 can be worn on the roads, gyms and flat surfaces.

With the Gel-Nimbus 21, you’ll feel the cushion and the energy return to help you push yourself to go further and ultimately conquer the long-distance runs. Overall, the latest ASICS Nimbus drop is something new runners and runners training to run their first half marathon can all get excited about.
